You're hired

You already have a job, you say?

Tough. You're hired anyway. Especially since these two seem to be committed to their current employment, and don't foresee a relocation to Southern Oregon in the near future.

You, lucky readers, are now going to be my personal trainers. Aren't you thrilled? (Don't you wish you could actually get a paycheck for it, though?)

So, here's the deal .... my NEW New Year's Resolution (you all remember how I feel about those, right?) is going to be all about getting into shape. Yeah, yeah, old news, I know, but this time, I have a better incentive.

YOU.

It was my husband's idea. When I complained yesterday about my growing waist size (and get this, I NEVER complain about my weight gain to him. Ever. It's like the elephant in the room-- no pun intended--but it's there, and we both know we both need to get into shape), HE said, "Well, maybe, if you didn't spend so much time blogging, you might have time to work out!"

What? What???!!!! Wait a second... I think you may have something there, dear...

Because, honestly, I know I spend too much time on this here little computer. He wasn't telling me anything I didn't already know. Still, it's my sanity and my release from life's little realities some times, and everyone needs a break. But there must be moderation in all things, right? And when I think of all the time I sit here like a potato when I could be burning calories, I say to myself, why can't I do both?

So, from now on, I am grounding myself from the computer. Every day, I can't blog until I get my exercising done. And because I need validation and incentives like little sticker charts as accountability, I'm going to record my progress right here on my blog. So, if for the next six weeks, if you see a blog post without that little BLURB at the bottom, would you please send me a cyber slap? Or at least, cheer me on -- I need all the incentive I can get!

And just for my own information, what do you all do to stay in shape?

Today, I'm going to go walking, pushing my two youngest in the double stroller. That counts--right!

oh great - now me and my ever expanding backside are feeling guilty...

I WAS walking a few miles a day (to the school and back) but it seems my kids have as many excuses as I do (field trip, finishing homework, the matching shoes aren't really WALKING shoes...)

I'm going to go back to walking without children for the summer and see if I can fit back in my smaller pants soon!

I'm with T--my backside is expanding. It's like all the weight is shifting, you know? Not a pretty sight. I have to exercise b/c of my fibromyalgia. If I don't exercise, I have more pain and don't sleep as well (or vice versa--one or the other). So, that's a pretty big incentive b/c I HATE not sleeping. I can't do much b/c people with fibro are exercise-intolerant (yet they need to do it!). I jump for twenty minutes a day on a trampoline. I would do more if I could hack it but that's about all I can stand. It is very low impact which is great but it also has other health benefits so it's a great choice. I just use one of those small exercise rebounder things. Good luck on your new goals! They are worthy ones! (and thanks for your thoughtful comment on my blog today!)

Brilliant idea, Sue! You'll be burning so many calories, you won't know what to do with your new self! :) I head over to my YMCA and take an aerobics class or workout on a machine 4 days a week.

Good for you! I started a separate blog to track my working out and weight loss last year, I was so excited about it! Then about 2 weeks later I found out I was pregnant.... So no more weight loss for me! However, I'm picking it back up again in about 27 days when I have the baby! Yay! We're both going to look AWESOME by the end of this!

We just fitted the whole family for biking!!! Danny had a bike, I got a new one with enough gears to handle the hills around here, Ellie got a lighter one with gears, Kate got a tag-a-long that hooks to mine (WHICH I ABSOLUTELY LOVE!!!!!! you can find them on Craig's list or classifieds all of the time) and Sophie is in the bike trailer behind Danny! IT IS SO MUCH FUN AND GOOD FOR ALL OF US!!!!!!
