This is my book.

This is Publishing Company "A".
Any questions?Actually, that's not entirely true. I'm not crushed, distraught, or even disappointed. Honestly, I was expecting the proverbial "Thanks-but-no-thanks" letter when I read the statistics on the company website -- something like 1,000 books submitted a year for potential publication, and of those, 600 are new authors, and of those, only 16 are published.
To tell the truth, I am kind of relieved -- I don't have to worry about the rest of the world rejecting me or my book or even my dream. The only reason I tried to publish it in the first place was because my kids read it and loved it and I wanted to do it for them. Sure, it was a dream -- it still is a dream -- but all that matters to me is that they still love it and enjoy what I write, and if nobody else in the whole world reads what I write, then so be it.

Have I given up? For the moment -- maybe. I'm not even sure where to go from here, but I know there are other publishing companies out there that might appreciate it, so I've got some research to do. In the meantime, maybe I'll start a fictional blog and publish one chapter at a time so you can all enjoy it as well. ;-)

don't give up!! Maybe you need to send a letter in with your book, stating, you have MANY blog followers that will buy your book the minute it comes out!!!
Annette Lyon suggests keeping a file for rejection letters to be proud of. This is your first step closer to publication! Don't give up! (or do, and write on a blog so I can read it. Or do both!)
I am sorry Sue, you have such a flair for writing! Can you try another company? Remember the Christmas box, it was rejected a few times and became a best seller...
That's a great idea to start a fictional blog. I would love to read your book through it!
I love your writting!!!!
Hold the phone--this is your first rejection, and you're even THINKING about quitting?!
No, no, no, no, no! It's your first step toward a yes. Every writer gets rejected. It's part of the game. It happens to EVERYONE. Those who make it are the ones who keep writing, rewriting, and submitting.
Look online for some kind of budding author site which can give you some advice about submitting manuscripts. Or, take a class if your community has any kind of classes for people who want to do things like this (BYU probably has an extension division class for creative writers who want to be published.) Don't stop just because it didn't work the first time. You come from a long line of creative women, including a Great Grandma who supported her family during the depression by writing poems for her local newspaper. If she can do it, you can!
Sue, published or not, I love your writing! And thanks sooooooo much for the offer on the bike trailer! We'll definitely come by and take a look when we're in town. And if you need to sell it soon, would you call me before you put it out there? Thanks a million!!!
you're not allowed to give up because Publishing Company A said no... just move on to PC B-Z and burn the letters in effigy.
keep going!!!!!!!! more letters!!!!!! keep trying!!!!!!!! YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!! i will read it in blog form---but i would rather buy it and have it in my hands! i LOVE the printed word!!!!!!!!! DON'T GIVE UP!!!!!!
All my family and friends talked me into sending in a "manuscript" for a Book of Mormon nursery rhymes book I wrote for my kids. It was rejected, too. But after reading your post and hearing myself say to you "Big deal, send it somewhere else," I might just have to do the same. Thanks for the inspiration.
suck it up... try again! SUE YOU ARE NOT A QUITTER!!! (You know I say that with the utmost amount of love! :)
